Job Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Continuity Analyst at HDFS is responsible for: the overall activities encompassed in HDFS’ BCM Program. They will help formulate the recovery and continuity strategy implemented by HDFS to keep business functionality going during events that would otherwise impede our ability to operate. The Business Continuity Analyst will either perform or oversee the other vital aspects of the program, including Risk Assessment, Business Impact Analysis, Plan Development, and Testing. They will also act as the corporate level BC contact to assist all HDFS locations with recovery and continuity related activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs risk analysis for corporate functional areas to identify points of vulnerability and recommends disaster avoidance and reduction strategies. Analyzes environmental and equipment configurations for critical corporate resources; recommends disaster avoidance measures and improved backup capabilities. Periodically reviews changes in corporate resources with the management of those areas to assure the effectiveness of the recovery procedures and backup capabilities.
- Conducts business impact analyses and assists company units to determine critical business processes, identifies acceptable recovery time periods, and establishes resources required for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster. Assures records required for recovery are identified and properly maintained. Coordinates the efforts of staff members in different functional areas in the development of procedures for the continuity of business processes in a disaster situation.
- Works with HDMC business continuity team to align business continuity process and procedures.
- Provides guidance to and coordinates the efforts of staff members in the development of recovery procedures for key areas of the organization.
- Works with HDI disaster recovery team on the development of DR testing methodologies. Assists and coordinates with HDFS business and IT units in scheduling and conducting systems recovery exercises, according to the HDI Standard and testing business resumption procedures
- Works with HDFS GIS system owners to develop and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans according to the HDI Standard.
- Conducts business continuity training for staff members in all functional areas. Assists business units in the assignment and training of staff. Develops and maintains standards and procedures for business continuity documentation.
- Develops corporate emergency response procedures in conjunction with appropriate support areas (e.g. Facilities, Security). Monitors the effectiveness of procedures during evacuation drills and revises the procedures as necessary. Assists recovery support and business resumption staff during a disaster in the implementation of response and alternate operating strategies.
- Works with HDI disaster recovery team to identify external services that may assist in providing recovery services during a disaster.
- Works with management to ensure that as new equipment, facilities, services, and systems are installed that the business continuity issues are addressed and disaster recovery is included if required.
- Maintains contact with outside contingency planning professional organizations and local/regional emergency response groups.
- Protection of employees, customers and corporate information is everyone's responsibility at HDFS. All employees must follow established physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, including policies regarding data protection, segregation of duties, use of passwords, and access to information based solely on business need. In addition, any company-proprietary information (including but not limited to customer information) may not be transferred or transported outside of HDFS by employees upon leaving the company.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Management, or a related field; or the equivalent in education and work experience.

Experience Required:
- 5+ yrs. of professional business continuity work experience and Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) accreditation. Work experience in a related field (e.g. Disaster Recovery, Emergency Management) will be accepted.
- Working knowledge of all areas of the organization and the ability to develop a clear understanding of the company’s key functional processes and resources. Thorough knowledge and understanding of current business continuity management and disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies.
- Working knowledge of data processing and data and voice telecommunications in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures in this area.
