Job Summary:
Within the Information Management area at Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS) the Sr. ETL developer assists the Global Process Technology Manager (GPTM), Information Management Architect/Team Lead in developing ETL & Data Warehousing solutions providing the highest level of strategic value. This role is responsible for designing, developing and implementing ETL jobs using a combination of tools/ technologies including InfoSphere Datastage, DB2, SQL Server, Control M and Unix (AIX ). This role also involves assisting the Information Management team in profiling data from internal and external sources, developing source-target mapping documents, Design artifacts, Unit Test Scripts, support User Acceptance Testing and collaborating with Business Objects reports developers to provide enterprise class data warehousing solutions.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Develop Source-Target mapping documents
- Develop Technical Design Specifications within HDI architectural standards
- Design, develop and unit test ETL Jobs using InfoSphere Datastage against DB2 and SQL Server databases
- Develop Unix Scripts on AIX platform for data acquisition and data cleansing
- Schedule Datastage jobs using Control M scheduling tool
- Support Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing teams
- Assist Project Manager/Team Lead with technical task estimation
- Assist the Information Management Architect in data modeling of ODS and EDW databases
- Conduct peer code reviews of datastage jobs and scripts to ensure compliance with architectural standards
- This position will not manage direct reports.
Education Required:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
Experience Required:
- 5-7 years of technology and business process experience in the area of Information Management and Data Warehousing .
- Demonstrated experience with ETL design and development using InfoSphere Datastage
- Demonstrated experience using DB2, Oracle and SQL Server databases in the context of Enterprise Data Warehouses and Operational Data Stores
- Demonstrated experience working with enterprise class scheduling tools such as Control M
- Demonstrated experience developing complex Unix scripts on AIX platform
- Strong SQL scripting skills with ability to develop and tune complex SQL queries against both ODS and EDW
- Solid understanding of dimensional modeling concepts and experience developing complex ETL jobs to populate dimensions and facts within EDW
- Project participation experience, including understanding of full lifecycle implementations for major applications
- Ability to translate technology concepts into business terminology.
- Proven ability to make sound and logical judgments.
- A strong desire to develop new skills within the Information Management and Business Intelligence area
- Strong interpersonal, written, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Self-motivated and directed.
- Able to collaborate within a team while exercising independent judgment and initiative.
- Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
